About Us

Arrowhead Animal Hospital was established in 2001 when Alpine Animal Hospital and Arrowhead Veterinary Clinic combined into one location in the Blue Jay Mall.  Dr. David Boshoven bought the practice in 2006, and now runs the state-of-the-art facility supported by a top-notch staff.

David Boshoven, DVM, has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Lake Arrowhead area for 13 of the last 18 years.  (He and his wife spent five years in Orange County between 1997 and 2002.)  Dr. Boshoven graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.   He is a seasoned surgeon, and excels in the uncommon specialties of pocket pets and avian medicine.  Dr. Boshoven has been married to his wife, Deanna, since 1996, and they have four children.

K. Patrick Rains, DVM, was one of the founders of Arrowhead Animal Hospital.  He has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Lake Arrowhead area for over 30 years.  Dr. Rains maintains a longtime loyal clientele, and his experience and love of animals makes him a wonderful asset to the practice.  He and his wife, Jo Benita, have been distinguished with many local honors.

Anne Lorkowski, DVM, has been working at Arrowhead Animal Hospital for four years.  She has a special interest in medicine cases.  Dr. Lorkowski is active in the community, and lives in Lake Arrowhead.

Our caring veterinary technicians assist the doctors in treating your pet.  Sandie Pfingston is our Registered Veterinary Technician (equivalent to an RN in human medicine), licensed by the State of California.  All of our techs adminster vaccines, take x-rays, run lab work, and generally carry out the treatment plans of the doctors, in order to provide your pet with excellent and sensitive care.

Our front desk is staffed by professional receptionists with over 60 combined years experience in veterinary medicine.  They have a wealth of knowledge to answer your questions regarding your beloved pets, and if they cannot answer your question, they know how to find someone who can.  They have extensive knowledge of the best food for your particular pet.  They have a complete understanding of necessary vaccinations.  The receptionists can also reserve a place for your pet in our clean and comfortable boarding facility, if space is available.

We also have a full-time kennel staff to care for the pets boarding with us.  They make sure that all of our boarders are happy and well taken care of.  In addition, these staff members take care of the daily cleaning, laundry, and maintenance of our facility.  One of them will even give you a tour of our boarding facility if you’d like.

The members of our staff love working with animals and enjoy working here at Arrowhead Animal Hospital.  We would be pleased to help you and your pets in any way we can.
